Volvo C40 Recharge For India Revealed - 530km Range, Launch In August

Swedish carmaker Volvo has revealed the C40 Recharge EV in India. The Volvo C40 Recharge will be launched and its price revealed in August.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is based on the CMA platform co-developed by the Swedish carmaker and its Chinese parent firm Geely for electric cars. For India, the C40 Recharge is offered in a dual-motor all-wheel drive guise.

The Volvo C40 Recharge draws power from a 78kWh battery pack. The lithium-ion battery pack supports 150kW DC fast charging (10 to 80 per cent in 27 mins) and delivers a range of 530km (WLTP).

The Volvo C40 Recharge electric battery pack powers a set of motors - one on each axle. The two electric motors produce a total of 402bhp and 660Nm of peak torque which allows the C40 Recharge to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180km/h.

The design of the C40 Recharge is distinctly Volvo with its Thor's Hammer headlights though the grille has been closed off to tell the world of the silent powertrain under the bonnet.

The sloping roof adds a bit of sportiness to the design as do the twin mini spoilers where the roof meets the raked rear windscreen and the spoiler where that window ends. The C40 Recharge rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interior is as minimalist as it comes. The C40 Recharge features a 12.3-inch driver's display and a 9-inch infotainment screen with an Android-based Google software setup. The infotainment screen is connected to a Harmon Kardon audio system and also supports Apple CarPlay.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is offered with two interior themes (blue or charcoal) with Suede textile material in charcoal for the upholstery. The Volvo C40 will be available in six colour options - Cyrstal White, Onyx Black, Fusion Red, Cloud Blue, Fjord Blue and Sage Green.

The Volvo C40 Recharge comes packed with safety tech including multiple airbags, whiplash protection for the front seats, hill start assist, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and ADAS features like Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Detection among others.

Thoughts About The Volvo C40 Recharge

The debut of the Volco C40 Recharge in India sees the Swedish carmaker push forward in its quest to go all-electric by 2030. The Volvo C40 for India combines a good amount of power with a host of tech and style to make it an intriguing offering for the luxury EV buyer. Hopefully, the price reveal in August will make it an even more compelling buy.
