TVS Partners With Zomato – Plans To Deploy 10,000 iQube Electric Scooters
TVS Motor Company announced that it has partnered with the food delivery platform Zomato. This new partnership will enable Zomato to further electrify its last-mile delivery system and also strengthen TVS' electrification journey.
As part of the partnership, TVS is committed to deploying more than 10,000 units of TVS iQube electric scooters over a period of 2 years. On top of that, TVS will also ensure access to charging stations for Zomato delivery partners who use these iQube electric scooters.
Speaking on this occasion, Manu Saxena, Senior Vice President, Electric Vehicles, TVS Motor Company, said, "This strategic partnership adds another milestone in TVS Motor's journey to provide smart and reliable EV products and services with lowest total cost of ownership to our delivery partners."
"We are now partnering with over 50 companies in the EV ecosystem with the intent of onboarding over 100,000 EV-based delivery partners on our platform within the next 2 years." said, Rinshul Chandra, Chief Operations Officer, Zomato.
At present, the last-mile delivery business has been booming in the country. Furthermore, the accelerated adoption of electric vehicles in the last-mile delivery business is also expected to reduce emissions along with boosting the adoption of EVs among the public.
"This association with TVS Motor adds further momentum to our commitment, given their global repute in the sustainable mobility domain. We are excited to jointly facilitate greener last-mile deliveries by transitioning our delivery partners' vehicles to EVs." Chandra added.
Speaking about the TVS iQube, the electric scooter received a major update last year. Along with the update, TVS also launched the more capable S, and ST variants of the electric scooter.
At present, the TVS iQube electric scooter is priced at Rs 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). On the other hand, the more premium TVS iQube S variant is priced at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
Thoughts About TVS-Zomato Partnership
The partnership between TVS and Zomato will not only enable the electrification of Zomato's last-mile delivery system, but it will also strengthen TVS' electrification journey. The partnership is also expected to contribute well to the overall reduction of carbon footprint by the last-mile delivery companies.
