Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X Pre-Bookings Open

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has opened pre-bookings for the all-new Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X. The Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X will be launched early next month.

The Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X are now listed on the Triumph India website, and both bikes can be pre-booked for just Rs 2,000. Both bikes will be produced at Bajaj's production plant in Maharashtra.

The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X were unveiled at an event in London on Tuesday evening. The launch event for the two all-new Triumphs is set for the 5th of July in Pune, which is when we will also learn the prices for the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.

The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X both share the same frame and engine but feature different slightly different suspension and braking setups along with wheels and tyres.

The engine in the new Triumphs is the brand-new TR400 single-cylinder engine. The 398cc powerplant features fuel injection and dual-overhead camshafts and produces 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Both bikes feature a tubular steel hybrid spine/perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe. At the front, both bikes sport 43mm upside-down big piston forks along with a monoshock at the rear with an external reservoir.

While the Speed 400 offers 140mm and 130mm of wheel travel at the front and rear. The Scrambler 400 X offers 150mm of wheel travel at both ends.

Talking about the brakes, the Speed 400 features a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. The Scrambler 400 X features a larger 320mm disc at the front. Both bikes feature 4-piston callipers at the front and a single-piston calliper at the rear, along with dual-channel ABS.

Both new Triumphs feature spoked wheels shod with Metzeler tyres. The Speed 400's 17-inch units are clad in 110/70 (front) and 150/60 (rear) Metzeler Sportec M9RR.

The Scrambler 400 X's 19-inch front wheel sports 100/90 section rubber while the rear sports chunkier 140/80 rubber. The tyres in question are the Metzeler Karoo Street.

Thoughts About Triumph Opening Pre-Bookings For the New 400 Series

Triumph's decision to open up pre-bookings for the all-new Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X shows the confidence that the British firm has in its new single-cylinder motorcycles. If the British firm does go aggressive with the pricing, it could have a real winner on its hands.
