Tata Curvv SUV Likely To Be Renamed as ‘Frest’ – Everything We Know So Far
Tata Motors recently trademarked the name 'Frest'. As such, we expect this recently trademarked name to be used for the production version of the previously showcased Tata Curvv Concept SUV.
Speaking about the Tata Curvv, the Concept SUV attracted a lot of attention to itself at the Auto Expo 2023 with its eye-catching coupe-ish styling. Furthermore, the model is also expected to feature a radically-styled interior.
That being said, Tata Motors is expected to launch the electric version of the Tata Curvv SUV by the second half of 2024. Also, this upcoming SUV is expected to feature Tata's more advanced Gen2 electric powertrain.
With this next-generation electric powertrain setup, the upcoming electric version of the Tata Curvv SUV is expected to have a claimed range of more than 450 kilometres. The model is also expected to feature an AWD setup as well.
To make matters even more interesting, it was revealed that the Tata Curvv Concept SUV will come with a conventional powertrain setup as well. However, this internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the SUV is expected to be launched only after the launch of the Tata Curvv EV.
While it was rumoured that the ICE version of the Tata Curvv SUV will be launched in 2025, it is now widely reported that this model will make its debut in 2024 itself. This means, Tata Motors is likely to launch both the electric and ICE versions of the Tata Curvv SUV by 2024 itself.
When launched we expect the ICE version of the Tata Curvv SUV to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and other C-Segment SUVs. Also, the upcoming Tata Curvv EV is expected to compete against the likes of MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric.
It is also said that the ICE version of the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV will come with a new 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with around 125bhp and 225Nm of torque. On top of that, the model is also rumoured to feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The latter is also expected to power the upcoming petrol versions of the Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs. This engine is expected to produce around 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. However, in the Tata Curvv, expect this powertrain to be slightly detuned.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Tata Curvv / Frest SUV
Whether Tata is going to rename the Curvv Concept SUV as 'Frest' or not, we expect the production version of the model to contribute significantly to the overall sales volume for the automaker. This will help Tata Motors compete better against Hyundai for the second spot in terms of overall passenger car sales volume.
