MotoGP Italy 2023 - All Ducati Podium, Marc Marquez Crashes Again

The 2023 MotoGP race in Italy that took place at the Mugello Circuit on Sunday concluded with Francesco Bagnaia on the top step of the podium. Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco of Prima Pramac Racing claimed the second and third positions, respectively.

Francesco Bagnaia, racing for the Ducati Factory Racing Team, led the race throughout, from the first lap to the last, winning his and Ducati's home race and extending his Championship Lead. He had created a strong gap between him and the second-place rider, Jorge Martin, pulling away by 1.06 seconds, and almost 2 seconds from Johann Zarco.

While Bagnaia and Martin were fighting for the lead, Johann Zarco and Luca Marini were having a close battle for 3rd - but Marini lost out, having to settle for 4th place in his home race.

Marc Marquez crashes out again in the main race with 18 laps remaining, following him was Miguel Oliveira and then Alex Marquez crashes out, too. Marc Marquez, on the 15th turn of the 15th lap, tried to make a move on Luca Marini, but to no avail. Instead, the move ended his race.

Only one of five Honda riders managed to finish the race as Joan Mir and Alex Rins were disallowed from competing due to a broken finger and a serious leg injury. Takaaki Nakagami was the only one to finish. He secured 13th place.

Yamaha Factory Racing Team's riders, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo managed to secure the 10th and 11th position. Brad Binder and Jack Miller of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team finished in 5th and 7th place, respectively, with the Aprilia rider, Aleix Espargaro splitting the two.

Thoughts About The MotoGP Italy 2023

The Italian GP couldn't have gone better for the home manufacturer, Ducati - with them clinching all three spots on the podium. Also, Prima Pramac Racing put up a great show on their Ducatis, with both their riders on the top three steps.

Francesco Bagnaia, a.k.a Pecco, continued his run of excellence by finishing first, extending his Title Lead and pulling further away from Marco Bezzecchi - now a 21-point difference between the two.

Marc Marquez, this season, is having a spell of bad luck. He hasn't scored a single point on any Sunday of the Race Calendar - either telling us it may be the end of an era or Honda has some work to do on their bikes. Whatever it may be, Repsol Honda needs to come back stronger to redeem themselves this season and go back to the glory days.
