Spy Pics: Hyundai Creta EV Spotted Testing Again
The upcoming Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing again, this time completely without any camouflage. The electric version of the Hyundai Creta was spotted by team-bhp member MAS as it traversed on the Bangalore to Chennai expressway.
The team-bhp member made a few observations on the forum stating that the Creta EV test mule did not feature a radiator or an exhaust and that both the front and rear bumpers were a different shade of silver compared to the rest of the body.
The uncamouflaged test mule of the Creta is identical to the current version of the compact SUV which is powered by fossil fuels. However, with a launch expected only in 2025, we expect the Creta EV to look rather different when it hits the streets in a few years time.
Hyundai has already started testing the facelifted version of the ICE-powered Creta SUV that is expected to make its way into India sometime in 2024. The facelift is expected to bring the Creta more in line with Hyundai's other vehicles in terms of its looks.
Details about the electric powertrain that will power the Hyundai Creta when it comes to India are not known. However, we expect Hyundai to borrow the powertrain of the new 2023 Kona EV.
The 2023 Kona EV is offered with either a 48.4kWh or a 65.4kWh battery pack with the latter offering a range of 490km (WLTP) on a single charge. The Creta is expected to offer a range of around 400km on a single charge.
Like the Kona EV and the flagship Ioniq 5 for India, the new Creta EV is to be another stab by Hyundai to change the electric car market for the better.
Hyundai is expected to launch the all-new Creta EV in India sometime close to Auto Expo 2025 which is also when its biggest rival, the production-spec Maruti Suzuki EVX is also set to debut.
Thoughts About The Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to bring more Indians into the driver's seats of EVs as the ICE-powered version of the SUV is one of the most popular SUVs in India.
