2023 BMW M 1000 RR Launched In India - Prices Start At Rs 49 Lakh

German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has launched the updated M 1000 RR in India. Prices for the 2023 BMW M 1000 RR start at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2023 M 1000 RR is the latest iteration of BMW Motorrad's homologation special for its Superbike World Championship (WSBK) racer. The 2023 BMW M 1000 RR is offered in two guises - Standard (Rs 49 lakh) and Competition (Rs 55 lakh).

What you get for the extra Rs 6 lakh (please note all prices mentioned are ex-showroom) is a lap time recorder (GPS datalogger for the geeks), aero wheel covers in carbon-fibre, a bare metal swingarm and billet machined 'M' parts.

Both versions of the homologation-special motorcycle are powered by the water and oil-cooled 999cc, 4-cylinder, DOHC engine that features BMW's ShiftCam tech (VVT) along with two-ring forged pistons, titanium valves, optimised camshafts, lightweight cam holders and titanium connecting rods.

With all this tech and materials helping it out, the manic inline four-cylinder produces 209.2bhp at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with straight-cut gears. The bike also gets an anti-hopping clutch for race starts. Speaking of race starts, the 2023 BMW M 1000 RR sprints from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds and can hit a top speed of 314km/h.

The engine is also a load-bearing part on the M 1000 RR, which sports a bridge-type cast aluminium frame. The WSBK homologation special sports adjustable suspension at both ends and rides on lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels shod with sticky rubber (120/70 - front and 200/55 -rear).

Braking duties are carried out by 320mm twin discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear. The front discs are clamped down by 4-piston callipers while the rear rotor sports two-piston callipers.

The 2023 BMW M 1000 RR features quite a few aero upgrades over its predecessor, including a new fairing and winglets at the front, which along with the new brake cooling ducts, are made from carbon fibre. The lightweight material is also used for the wheels.

The new M 1000 RR also gets the BMW M endurance seat along with the M lightweight battery, a redesigned rear end and a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust system.

The race-bred bike also gets seven riding modes, including three individual modes and other aids like BMW Motorrad ABS and ABS Pro, Pit Lane Limiter, Launch Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Slide Control, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and Automatic hill start support (HSC) Pro among others.
